Kansas became part of America in 1803 when the United States bought the area from France as part of the Louisiana Purchase. Since then Kansas has had an interesting history. The state was hit hard by the great depression and parts of the state were blown away in the Dust Bowl. However, Kansas rebounded quickly and became an epicenter of the aircraft and mineral production industries in America.
